Team Will Power Participates at St. Baldrick’s 2011

Congratulations and thank you to Team Will Power for raising nearly $3000 at St. Baldrick’s 2011, which was held on Sunday, April 10 in Albany. The team of eight bravely shaved their locks to support pediatric cancer research (pictures can be seen below).

Nationally, St. Baldrick’s raises over $20 million every year to support and fund research for all forms of pediatric cancer. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Since 2000, more than $109 million has been raised for childhood cancer research. From 2000 to 2011, over 184,000 shavees – including over 16,400 women – have shaved their heads at more than 4,100 St. Baldrick’s events worldwide.

Participating on Team Will Power this year were:

  • Ben and Max Hladun (Will’s brothers)
  • Sam Verdile (Will’s cousin)
  • Sean and Jack Walker (Will’s cousins)
  • Spencer Patterson
  • James Roth
  • Don Savage

Thank you to all who were part of Team Will Power and to all those who participated in a St. Baldrick’s Day event across the country. You are truly making a difference.

Brave Will Foundation to Appear on Fox23 In Focus

On Sunday, April 10 and April 17, Matt and Tammy will be appearing on the show, “Fox23 In Focus”, which is a weekly show that highlights various events from around the community. The show airs at 10:00AM on WXXA-Fox 23.

In the past, the Foundation has talked about our mission, which is focused on pediatric palliative care. In this 30-minute interview, you should get a better understanding of what palliative care is and how it is starting to make a difference in the lives of terminally ill children at Albany Medical Center through the Journeys program, which we proudly support through our fundraising efforts. In addition, Matt and Tammy will be discussing their own journey at Albany Med, what sparked them to start the Brave Will Foundation, how the foundation is using the funds that are being raised, and information about the upcoming Evening of Will Power gala.

Be sure to catch the interview on either this Sunday or next Sunday at 10:00AM.

Deadline To Get Gala Tickets Extended Until April 16th

The deadline to reserve your place at the 2nd Evening of Will Power on Saturday, April 30th has been extended to Saturday, April 16th. At that point, we will need to give our final numbers to the caterer, so no further reservations will be accepted. If you are interested in attending this unique, powerful, entertaining event, please be sure to visit the Gala page on our website for information on obtaining tickets.

The gala is expected to draw 200-300 people and will be full of great music, entertainment, food, and drinks. Your ticket costs include food and open bar. But even more important, the tickets we sell the night of the event will ensure that we keep pushing forward in our efforts to support children like our Brave Will, who are in the challenge of their life. The efforts you make that evening will ensure that each and every child in the Journeys program, as well as their parents and siblings, is getting the physical, emotional, and spiritual care they need as they progress through their own journey.

Please join us on April 30th and help spread the message of Will Power and truly make a difference in the lives of children and families that live all around us.
