Now For Something Completely Different…Cannonball Run Challenge III

With the 2nd Annual Evening of Will Power now in our rearview mirror, we look ahead to the next event. Taunia Kipp has been organizing a Cannonball Run Challenge for the last three years. Each year, she selects a local charity to donate proceeds from the event. This year, she has graciously selected the Brave Will Foundation as the recipient.

So what is the Cannonball Run Challenge, you ask? It’s truly one of the most unique fundraising events we’ve seen in this area. This year, it will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 2:00 at the Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs. We’ll let Taunia explain the details:

Here’s how it works: Please arrive on-time! There will be a short presentation of rules and then placement of everyone into teams of 4 (unless you already have an established team of 4 people at time of registration. Provisions will be made for odd-numbered teams so bring as many friends as you want!). Each team will be given an envelope containing a list of challenges and their point values. Teams will then have 15 minutes to meet to decide a team name, and “strategize” which challenges your team will attempt to accomplish and to plot your route. Teams have exactly 2 hours to accomplish your missions.

The more difficult the challenge, the more points you can earn as a team. The team with the most points after two hours (with supporting photographic evidence) wins a cash prize.

The cost to enter the event is $25 and includes a t-shirt. If you would like to register for the event, be sure to visit the official website.

The Brave Will Foundation would like to thank Taunia for supporting our cause and we look forward to what will surely be a day of many smiles and laughs at a very unique event.

Pictures from the Gala

We were fortunate to have all the wonderful moments from the gala captured on film by two different photographers. First, Gallery 9 North, once again covered the entire event, taking hundreds of pictures from all over UPH. Jason and Erin have been such great supporters of our foundation and do an amazing job each and every time they photograph our events. Please be sure to check out their gallery of photos from the gala. If you would like to purchase any of the pictures, Gallery 9 North will donate proceeds of the sale of pictures to the Brave Will Foundation.

In addition to Gallery 9 North’s pictures, Heather Bohm-Tallman Photography set up a crazy photo booth at the gala and allowed anyone attending to have themselves photograph in any pose imaginable. The outcome: a wonderful and entertaining photo collection of couples, friends, and family from throughout the night. Again, if you would like to purchase any of these pictures, Heather will donate proceeds of the picture sale to the foundation.

Thank you to Erin, Jason, and Heather for all their talents in capturing the special moments from the gala.

Thank You To All For Making the 2nd Annual Evening of Will Power a Success!

The 2nd Annual Evening of Will Power held on April 30, 2011 was a smashing success. The event, attended by 325 people, was a night filled with awesome entertainment and plenty of great times and even greater memories. The Brave Will Foundation was able to raise approximately $38,000 to support pediatric palliative care efforts. The total amount raised topped our total from last year by $10,000! Simply amazing…

If you were unable to attend the event, we encourage you to watch the video below that was shown at the gala that better describes how the efforts of the Brave Will Foundation are impacting children with life threatening illnesses and their families. We hope this video will give you a better understanding of the importance of palliative care.

To our corporate sponsors, volunteers, those that donated, and those that attended–thank you for helping make this event such a success! We are humbled by your generosity and inspired by your support. We simply could not pull this event off without all of you.

If you attended the event and visited Heather Bohm-Tallman’s crazy photo booth, make sure you head over to her website to check out the pictures. There are some pretty memorable ones there.

Save the date for the 3rd Annual Evening of Will Power to be held on April 21, 2012.

Brave Will: A Tale of Palliative Care

At the 2nd Annual Evening of Will Power held on Saturday, April 30, 2011, the following video was shown to better explain the mission and goals of the Brave Will Foundation. The video explains more about the Journeys program at Albany Medical Center, which the Foundation proudly supports.

Thank you to Torie Wells and Mike Wickham from Fox23 News for their time and talents in producing this video.
